If we are abroad and we are in need of cash in a hurry, we can ask our family members or friends living in Hungary to transfer some via Western Union, utilizing the Hungarian Post’s network. Then, the sender is required to inform the recipient (us) about the details and amount of the transfer, which are necessary for the sake of the payment. It is also possible to send a short message along with the money.

In case we need to help out our family members or friends abroad, it is very important that we only transfer to people that we really know and share the data to that person only. Then we hand over our ID document and the money we want to send. In the end, we are given a receipt with the money transfer control number (MTCN) which identifies the transaction. Help is on its way and with this information our loved ones can easily pick up the money.

Wherever the addressee is, the transferred money can be picked up within minutes in any Western Union location in the destination country (or state) depending on its opening hours – but only after providing the necessary payment data. We can send money from any of more than 1000 designated post offices in cash. Money can be paid in Hungarian Forint but we have an option to determine the amount to be sent also in the payout currency. In this case the actual HUF value of the determined amount shall be paid at the location. If we determine the amount to be sent in HUF, the transferred amount is paid to the recipient in the desired currency, applying the actual exchange rates applied by Western Union. So there is no need to go extra miles for an exchange.

The same method is applied when we receive money from abroad: money can be picked up in cash in any designated post office immediately in HUF. There is no risk: transactions are reliable, since each transfer has a unique money transfer control number (MTCN) that enables us to track transfers.
